Oxygenates Contamination of Crude Oil and Impact on Jet Color Quality
Wednesday, November 5th
Webinar Presenter: Leonard Nyadong, Senior Scientist, Phillips 66 Energy Research & Innovation
Summary: Jet fuel color specification serves as a supplementary quality control parameter in aviation fuel standards and serves as a visual indicator of contamination or degradation. Understanding and monitoring jet fuel color is essential for maintaining fuel integrity, ensuring safe aircraft operation, and supporting compliance with aviation quality assurance protocols. This presentation highlights an example of a jet color problem and the approach that was used to investigate, identify and address the root cause of the problem. The presentation also highlights feedstock monitoring approaches to ensure the jet product sustainably meets color quality standards.
