IASH® 2005, the 9th International Conference on Stability, Handling and Use of Liquid Fuels was comprised of four days of technical sessions, with a separate poster session. The latter provided an opportunity for technical presentations on new and innovative approaches to the definition and solution of fuel stability, handling and use problems. A commercial exposition ran throughout the conference.

The conference was held at the Melia Gran Sitges Hotel in Sitges, Spain, approximatley 20 minutes from Barcelona International Airport. The meeting began with a reception on Sunday, September 18, and ended on Thursday, September 22, 2005.

Highlights

  • 163 delegates attended from 22 countries (USA, UK, Spain, France, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Israel, Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, Germany, Findland, Italy, South Korea, Norway, Austria, Canada, Lybia, Slovenia, South Africa Sweden, and Venzula).
  • Alan Roberts, US Navy, received the prestigious Nahum Por Award for his long-standing dedication and service to the IASH organization and its guiding principles of fostering the exchange of ideas and information and promoting cooperation and good will amongst its international membership.
  • Christophe Hein (ONERA and University of Paris VI) was awarded the first John D. Bacha Student Excellence Award for presenting his two year's results in thermal stability of Jet A-1.
  • Parker Hannifin and GE Water & Process Technologies hosted the gala dinner on Wednesday evening at the Masia Vilanoveta where the awards were presented.
